These concepts are directly related to the problem of knowledge assimilation. Practically any human action in life, not only studying, is connected with the necessity of assimilation and processing of this or that knowledge, this or that information. What does it mean to assimilate knowledge? If a student perfectly retells the educational material, does it mean that he has mastered it? Until recently, education was largely focused on this understanding of the word, which is reflected in the explanatory dictionary.

This approach in the organization of the educational process, which puts the logic of information, and is called the informational approach to learning. In this case Knowledge is considered as something valuable and self-sufficient, without regard to what role it plays in the activity structure of individual in the activity structure of individual consciousness. It follows from this premise that the better the educational process is, the more knowledge the more knowledge it is able to instill in the student. This assumes that knowledge resides in the student’s the student’s consciousness rather than functioning in it.
